Classes Available

Basic Life Support (BLS)

  BLS is for healthcare providers and emergency responders. Skills include CPR, automatic external defibrillator (AED), ventilation with a bag-valve mask and choking relief for adult, child and infant victims. Participants must also pass a written test. This course is available in both instructor-led and online (blended) learning formats. An initial certification course is approximately 4 hours. The recertification course is approximately 2.5 hours depending on class size.  

Heartsaver®

  Heartsaver® classes are designed for audiences who do not have a medical background.  

Heartsaver® CPR Classes

  May include adult, child and infant techniques for CPR, automatic external debrillator (AED), mouth to mask ventilation, and choking relief. This course is available in both instructor-led and online (blended) learning formats. Initial or renewal courses are approximately 4 hours each depending on class size.  

Heartsaver® CPR and First Aid

  Includes the skills for CPR listed in the  Heartsaver® CPR Classes as well as bleeding control, recognition of common medical emergencies, environmental emergencies (bites, stings, heat and cold exposure), use of an epinephrine pen, opioid emergencies, trauma such as broken bones, sprains and strains for adult, child and infant victims. This combined course is available in both instructor-led and online (blended) learning formats. Initial or renewal courses are approximately 6 hours each depending on class size. 

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

 ACLS courses build on the Basic Life Support Course and focuses on emergency patient management. Emphasis is on high-quality CPR, communication, recognition and treatment of cardiac arrest patients. Topics such as stroke and acute coronary syndrome are also covered. Cardiac rhythm recognition is a prerequisite as rhythm recognition is not taught during the course. Skills include basic life support, mandatory pre-test, oral and nasal airway insertion, algorithm for various cardiac emergencies, written exam (unless taking the online option), and megacode. This course is available in both instructor-led and online (blended) learning formats. An initial certification course is approximately 12 hours over two classes or an online and skills session.  The recertification is approximately 6 hours. Class size may alter the hours required.
